In May 2024, the bridge was closed and declared too unsafe for travel. SCDOT announced that it would be closed until it could be repaired.
While repairing the bridge, the crew discovered that the bridge needed to be torn down and replaced.
David Britt, who represents Spartanburg County Council District 3 attended. “Cannons Campground is a vital conduit – it impacts almost everyone on the east side in some way,” said Britt, whose district covers the eastern portion of the county. “This project needs to be a priority.”
This is David Britt, a Spartanburg County Council member who allowed Sheriff Chuck Wright to choose the amount he would reimburse the county for his $53,000 spending spree. (on one of those red credit cards)
The bridge has already been closed nearly 8 months. However, by the time all the bureaucratic mess and the paperwork shuffled, I’s dotted and T’s crossed…who knows when.
However, if Governor McMaster could step in, as President Trump reminded the mayor in LA:
When another resident shouted, Bass said, “You will be able to go back soon. We think within a week.”
“A week is actually a long time, the way I look at it,” Trump reprimanded the mayor, insisting “they are safe.”
The newly inaugurated president, who took office Monday, said that he will try to hasten rebuilding by waiving any federal permits and that he would pressure California officials to do the same.
“We’re going to essentially waive all federal permits,” Trump said. “I’m going to override the Coastal Commission, I’m not going to let them get away with their antics.”
With the taxes already increasing, along with the penny tax that was supposoed to cure all ills, 1% at-a-time, it’s back to the piggy bank time. Unless County Councilman Britt could issue the rest of us one of those red cards.
